The Protest

12/13/14 was an intense day. I went to the protest in Washington Square Park, in New York City. I can't say how many people marched up 5th Avenue, but they were polite, peaceful, and yet raised their voices to show frustration and explain their fear of the police, following the "No Indictment" ruling of the cop who put a deathly choke hold on Eric Garner, a black, unarmed cigarette pedaler.

I stood on the stone bench near the arch and took pictures of the crowd, then stepped into the swarm and got all up in it. I like the intensity of editorial photography. It's exciting, difficult, and rewarding.
